John Voortman President
Mr. Voortman has experience in IC design, device engineering, wafer
manufacturing, financial analysis, market forecasting and competitive
intelligence. He worked at IMEC
in Belgium until 1994, where he designed active matrix LCD drivers and was
involved in the research of CdSe thin film technology. He then joined Motorola’s Semiconductor Products
Sector (SPS), where he worked in Toulouse, France, Phoenix, Arizona and Austin, Texas.
While at Motorola, Mr. Voortman was part of the team that developed CMOSAIC, a
new BiCMOS technology. He then moved to manufacturing and was responsible for
the management of a major European wafer fab. Subsequently, in the U.S., Mr.
Voortman provided critical market analysis to the executive management and board
of directors and represented Motorola
at the SIA Industry Statistics Committee, World Semiconductor Trade Statistics
(WSTS), SEMATECH Manufacturing Methods Council, and SEMATECH Competitive
Analysis Group. Most recently, he was responsible for Motorola's semiconductor manufacturing
benchmarking, which included the strategic analysis of internal fabs in the
U.S., Europe and Asia, external foundries and joint ventures, and competitors
worldwide. He also prepared and recommended manufacturing agreements with
multinationals and foreign governments. He
joined J.P. Voortman Inc. as President at the end of 1999.
Mr. Voortman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Gent in
Gent, Belgium. He has a Master of Science degree in
Electrical Engineering and Physics from the University of Gent and a Master of
Science in Microelectronic Materials and Device Technology from the University
of Manchester Institute of Technology in the U.K. He is a Senior Member of the
IEEE Electron Devices Society and a Regular Member of CFA Institute, formerly the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR).
